After leaving college Jules went
to work for a MFH as a sole charge groom looking after horses
which varied from point-to-pointers to stallions, youngsters and
seasoned hunters. From there she went on to an eventing
family where she stayed for two years before moving on with the
trainer to a well known equestrian centre. During her time
there she did all the lunging and long reining education of the
young event horses, travelled to many competitions
in all spheres of equestrianism, learnt very high levels of
stable management (including the care of injured horses) and competition
turnout. After grooming for William Fox Pitt (he won the British
Intermediate Champs at Gatcombe on one of the horses in her
care) she was recommended to go for an interview with Mark
Todd and started there in 1998. |
Describing him as a great person
to work for and as someone she has a huge amount of respect for,
it was the best move of her career - so far! Working as part of a
team in a large yard, the job was enormously
varied as along with all levels of event horses there were
also broodmares, foals/youngsters, stallions, showjumpers and horses to
back, along with the day to day stuff such as
warming up horses for Mark to school, riding fast work and the
daily roadwork. Jules took over as head girl and along with the day to day running of the yard
groomed at many One Day and Three Day events including
Badminton, Punchestown and Burghley.

Jules left when Mark returned to New
Zealand in 2000 (after being given
the opportunity/responsibility of taking care of Charisma on his flight home to
New Zealand from the UK and the subsequent quarantine that followed) and set up her own freelance grooming
business. When offered use of a yard by one of her clients
she jumped at
the chance and has been backing and producing horses from here
ever since,
alongside the freelance business of riding/producing and caring
for other people’s horses. |

Carly is
a former show rider/groom who has been involved with horses from
a young age. On her home produced pony she competed in area pony
club competitions and the Riding Club national Championships.
She regularly rides and jumps the horses and also assists with
backing and competing of horses and ponies in the yard. She has
competed to a high level and was responsible for schooling the
ponies and backing in a top showing yard for 5 years as well as
competing at all the county shows. She now has a young family so
works part time and is producing her own youngster for showing
and showjumping. |
| Buddy
has been riding for us since last year. He has his own
yard at home and keeps a number of stallions which
are used for breeding and competing. He also does his
own breaking for riding and driving. Buddy rides for us
on a regular basis; he has super stickabilty and is
invaluable in re-schooling problem horses along with the
day to day riding. He also competes and hunts horses and
ponies for us. He has attended Berkshire Agricultural
college and will soon be training as a farrier.

Our
farrier and vets are never far away and we also have regular
visits from a McTimmoney chiropractor and Shiatsu therapist.
We make
regular use of magnetic therapy and homeopathy for any horses
that need it, in fact most benefit from a little extra
treatment, which can be followed up when they leave
